President Biden Announces San Gabriel National Monument

BIG NEWS! President Biden just announced the designation of two expanded national monuments in California: Molok Luyuk and San Gabriel National Monument. Find out more here.

The San Gabriel Mountains National Monument is a beloved outdoor recreation space for 13 million people living in close proximity. We spent years documenting the gravel and mountain bike riding in this expansive, yet arduous terrain. There’s nowhere like the San Gabriels in the continental United States with Mount Baldy rising to 10,068′ from the Pacific Ocean at sea level.

Countless trails and fire roads criss cross the fastest growing and fastest eroding mountains in the United States. Check out a sampling of our Reportage from the area, spanning over twelve years, below in our Archives.

The designation of Molok Luyuk expands Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument by more than 13,000 acres. The additional protections will conserve lands that are sacred to Tribes, conserve biodiversity and habitat, build climate resiliency, and increase access to outdoor recreation in the area.
